Alan "Howling Laud" Hope is the Leader of the United Kingdom's Official Monster Raving Loony Party (OMRLP)
Screaming Lord Sutch was the founder and original leader of the party. Alan Hope was the party's Deputy Chairman in 1982 and subsequently became the party's Chairman and Deputy Leader, becoming Leader following Screaming Lord Sutch's death in 1999.

This portrait of Alan Hope was painted in Carol's studio from an original sitting and reference photographs. As well as capturing Alan in his election outfit,Lord Sutch is shown in a framed portrait in the background.
