I met Karl in Ledbury, Herefordshire and immediately thought he would make a fascinating portrait. In talking to him I soon realised here was a highly intelligent man who had struggled in life due to a difficult set of family circumstances. All of which he has recorded in a fascinating book entitled 'A Life Discovered'. I hope that I have captured some of his life experiences in his face for this portrait.
